One of the good things about buying a second-hand vehicle is that you can get a good car at a low price. The bad thing about it is that you can get a bad car or, in Romania, you can get a bad car at a high price. The thing is, that in order to buy a second-hand car from a western Europe (where it can be really cheap), you have to 1. go there 2. pay a huge tax to the state for registering a car that’s not compatible with the Euro low pollution standards. But if you buy it from Romania, it’s ok, you don’t have to pay anything (not even when you buy something like that). Another option is to use the services of people who specialize and make a living out of going to Germany (for example) and bringing cars here. But then again, why not buy it directly from someone here.
So, here’s the list:
1. All the cars from this post.
2. Seat Toledo

One of the few models of the Spanish car maker I like. Kind of expensive even when it’s second hand, but talking to some car-tech-mechanical geeks, I heard it’s a good buy.
3. BMW 318

It’s a BMW, what can I say more? It’s a driver’s car, it’s a fast and powerful car, it’s a German car, and at last, it’s an expensive car. This model (318) can cost up to 7000-8000 Euros at least. This is not much for a BMW, but what I wanted to say was 7000 Euros for a car that’s been around for about 100.000+ km.
4. Daewoo Espero

They say it’s better than his brother, the Cielo. I say it looks like a boat. But the good thing is, you can buy one for about 2000-3000 Euros.
5. Fiat Punto

My former room-mate has one, one of my co-workers has one, a lot of people have one. Why? Because it’s a good ratio of price to quality, good consumption, low gas emission, small (good for urban traffic).
6. Opel Astra

You can get a good price on this even when it’s new.
7. Volvo 460

A Volvo, of course (I think Tudor Vlad has one just like this).
All of the cars above can reach 8.000 Euros at most. That’s not enough to buy a brand new decent car, but more than enough to get you around with a second-hand vehicle.
