Mozilla Labs Prism - Where the Desktop meets the Web

via Alex Burciu.

Take a look at this. I click a shortcut from quick launch,

And this comes out:

Or, what is this?

Is it really PowerPoint? Is it a bird? No, it’s a Prism. With Silverlight running through it (get it? haha) It’s a Silverlight application that’s not running in a browser. Actually it is, but it’s not really a browser, it’s the former WebRunner. If you want a web app “installed” on your machine, you can install Prism, then run it,

And presto, you get a shortcut to a url in a browser with no browser-like interface, but wait, there’s more.

You can read the “more” here.

I’m personally waiting for them to keep this promise:

And while Prism focuses on how web apps can integrate into the desktop experience, we’re also working to increase the capabilities of those apps by adding functionality to the Web itself, such as providing support for offline data storage and access to 3D graphics hardware.
