From InfoWorld
The short story:
- the defining feature is that applets will run on different processes than the browser, so if the applet crashes, the browser will not
- the ability to choose the version of JRE for a certain applet
- works better with Vista, as well as IE7 and Firefox 3.
- they plan to include something like Quickstarter.
- JNLP running natively on the browser
- from what I understand, support for other languages, like JRuby
- reliability and all the other marketing bla bla’s.
- the update will be available as a beta update for the Java Platform Standard Edition 6 in December.
